In the Indian state of Punjab, the Gobindgarh Fort is a medieval fort situated in the heart of Amritsar. The Fort opened to the public on February 10, 2017, after being occupied by the army earlier.The fort is now being transformed into a one-of-a-kind live museum that will house Punjab’s historical artifacts. Gobindgarh was first constructed in the 18th century by the local ruler Gujjar Singh Bhangi. In the early 19th century, Maharaja Ranjit Singh took control of it and made improvements, renaming it after the 10th Sikh saint, saint Gobind Singh. Five cannons were present in the fort, two of which were the well-known “Zamzama” cannons, also known as “Bhangiyon-de-tope.”
