One of the most revered and primordial personalities of early Sikhism, Baba Buddha ji (6 October 1506 – 8 September 1631) was born on October 6, 1506, in the village of Katthu Nangal, 18 miles northeast of Amritsar. The family eventually made their home in Dhalla village, which is located across from Kartarpur and close to the Ravi River. As “Bura” was initially called, he was the sole child of Mai Gauran, a Sandhu by birth, and Bhai Suggha, a Hindu Jatt of the Randhawa clan.
